DOWN AGAIN.
WELLINGTON .'BUTTER PRICES. (By TelegTapli.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. The wholesale price of butter in Wellington will be reduced to-day to 1/1. This gives producers a little better than parity with the London market. The above message from Wellington states that the wholesale price of factory butter has fallen there to-day to 1/1 per lb. whereas iv Auckland* the present price is quoted at 1/4. This apparent discrepancy, said an Auckland tr.3rc.hint this morning, docs not really represent the respective markets. He pointed out that tnis price of 1/1 is almost certainly the quotation for second grade factory butter, tvhich i- always about twopence lower than tir>t grade, although it takes an expert to detect the ditlercnce. In Auckland to-day it great deal of second grade factory butter is being sold wholesale at 1/2. explained our informant, and as the Wellington price has been consistcntiv a penny lower than the Auckland quota"tion, 1/1 would be the right ficurc for second grade in Wellington. The prices in the two c-ities at the present, time would therefore be 1/4 and 1/2 for Auckland, and 1/3 and 1/1 for Wellington.
