! One of the decisive matches of the Plunkct Shield cricket competition wfjlbt started to-morrow afternoor. at Jg« Park, where Auckland will play Canterbury. So far Auckland, Wellington (the present holders) and Canterbury have won a game each, Otago having been beaten by Canterbury and Auckland, and Canterbury having been beaten by Wellington ; In the game at the beginning of tan I week, in which Canterbury were beaten .; by Wellington by eight wickets, the state of the pitch had a deal to do with the. result, and it is felt that the member! of the Auckland team will have to show their best form to beat the Christchurci visitors in the forthcoming game. It is anticipated that the game will be a keen and interesting one, and that it will attract considerable public attention should the weather prove line. Arrange- ; ments have been mao 7 for spectators to obtain luncheon ana afternoon tea Oh the ground. Play will start at 2 p.m. to-morrow, and at 11 a.m. on the following days. So far no change has been announced in the Auckland team, but there is a doubt about Anthony being able to take part in the game, while the twelfth man, Irving, has notified that he will not be available. The team as selected is:— X. C. Snedden. S. G. Smith, L. G. Hemtig, C. Dacre. W. J. Coates. E. Horspool, C. Allcotl. A. Anthony. R. Ga>rard, G. B. Cummings, and R. \V. Rountree. The Canterbury team arrived in Auckland yesterday afternoon and is putting up at.Stonehurst. This morning most of the players had a practice at Eden Park". The team for to-morrow will probably ,be:—Patrick, Blunt, Brosnahan, Worker, Grant, Hayes, Evans. Sandman. Read, Fuller, McLachlan. Messrs Harvie and Goldsworthy have been appointed umpires for the match.
