POLICE COURT.

(Before Mr. J. E. Wilson, S.M.), DRUNKENNESS. Two first offenders forfeited bail and ne was convicted and discharged. FROM HIS FATHER'S HOUSE. Edward Allcock (41) was charged that ie was drunk in Queen Street yesterday, .nd that he stole clothing valued at £4 .0/- belonging to his father. Evidence VB.& given that accused had been forbidlen to go to his father's house, but depite that he went to the house when here was nobody there and stole a suit if clothes, a jersey, hat and boots belongng to his aged father. A complaint was nade by the old man that someone had iorted out the best of his clothes and tolen them, and he suspected his son. A joliceman hunted up the son, and found urn in the street under the influence of Irink, and in possession of the stolen jroperty, part of which he was wearing. It was stated that accused was adlicted to drink, this being his third ■ecent appearance for drunkenness. He .vas sentenced to fourteen days' imprisonment. LIVELY TIMES AT HOME. John Parker (47) was charged that last night he assaulted his wife, and also issaulted a man who "went to the wife's assistance. Evidence was given that Mrs - Parker kept a boardinghouse in Grey Street, and that last night her husband went home drunk and abused her. She hid in a spare room, she said, but her husband found her, pulled her out, and hit her. She called out to one of the lodgers, and when that man (W. Wilkinson ) on the scene he was immediately struck in the face by Parker. Wilkinson then knocked Parker down. Mr. R. A. Singer made a request on behalf of the wife to enter an application for a separation order, but Parker stated that he wished to consult a solicitor on that point, and the application for separation was adjourned. Accused was fined £5 for the assault on his wife and £2 for the assault on Wilkinson.
