Homes for Workers—Prize-winning Designs by New Zealand Soldiers
A competition promoted by the "Daily Express" offering 1500 guineas for plans for workers' homes attracted a large number of entries in England, where the housing problem is exceptionally acute. Among the prize winners in the competition were two young New Zealand soldiers, Pte. E. Phillips and Pte. H. L. Massey, who are studying architecture in London. Pte. Massey also won a similar competition promoted by the "Daily Mail," securing a prize of £500 from 2500 competitors. _ See special articlej <. The Housing p rob l em »
