the rotorua carnival. A Bwimming carnival held In the Duchess bath on Raster Monday, in aid of the Belgian Relief Fund, provided some interesting races. A splendid exhibition of fancy diving and swimming was given by Mr G. Williamson. An exhibition of life-saving was given by the children of the Whakarewarewa School. This was an enjoyable item, and reflected great credit on the instructor. There was a splendid attendance, and all events were got on* to time and were well contested.

Results were as follow:— Boys' Race, three lengths.—N. Smith 1, W. Richardson 2. Time. 30 2-Cs. Kotorua Championship, six lengths.— First -heat: I* Dingle 1. Time, 595. Second heat: E. Cobeldick 1. Time, 525. Third heat: G. Grove 1. Time. 61s. Final: L. Dingle 1, E. Cobeldlck 2. Time, 52 4-5. This was a well-contested race, only n touch separating the first two. Three Loiigthg Handicap.—Final: Cobeldick 1, J. M. Curtis 2. Time, Sβ 2-56. Belgian Handicap, four lengths.—Final: Cobeldick and Corbett, dead hen I. Novelty Race, two lengths.—First heat: E. Hall. Time, 80s. Second heat: C. McDnvitt. Time, 08s. 'McDavitt was afterwards disqualified.
