RUSSIAN CAPTURES ROUND BARTFELD.
FIERCE FIGHTING WITH SHELL AND BAYONET.
WELLINGTON, this day. The High Commissioner reports, under dated of London, April 6/2.40pjn.: Petrograd reports successful progress in certain points west of the River Niemen on Sunday. In the Carpathians on the night of Friday and Saturday, and during Saturday in the region of Bartfeld, fierce fighting with artillery and bayonet was reported. Twenty officers, more than 1,200 soldiers, and two machine jnms were captured. Prosress was made on the front from Mezo Laborez to Uszok, and ye captured during the day 25 officers, more than 2,000 soldiers, and three gun 3. We occupied the railway station Tsisna, and captured engines, coaches, a great stock of ammunition, and part of a provision column. _ Desperate fighting occurred on Saturday and Sunday near the ullage of Okna, north of Czernowitz. We took more than a thousand prisoners which the Austrians had left behind.
