AFTER A MOTOR RIDE.
SYDNEY HOTEL SENSATION SYDNEY, March 7. A man named Edgar Alfred Hatton, a bookmaker by occupation, went for a drive with a young woman to-night in a taxicab. After the drive they entered the bar of an hotel in the city. The couple were having a drink, when Hatton is alleged to have drawn a revolver and fired at the woman, wounding her in the left breast. Then Hatton is said to have fired twice at himself, the bullets entering his . head. The woman gave the name of Violet Coghlan. The condition of neither Hatton nor Coghlan is serious. Before the "hooting they, with other companions, went for a taxi drive about the city and Coogee. The cause of the shooting has not been explained.
