FLOGGING.
(To the Editor.) Sir, —What delectable humans your correspondents "Patis" and "Johnston" must be to 'be sure. Fancy in the twentieth century, in a eociety supposedly Christian and civilised, finding such narrow-visioned persons—so ferocious as to desire to (log an old man in the last stages of senility. I would be delighted if my physiognomist could secure a plaster cast of their Calvinistically - moulded craniums. To broaden their intellects, I would strongly advise them to muke a study of works on sociology and criminology, and particularly to look into such important questions as heredity, environment and atavism. There is no darknese but ignorance. Mr A. E. Glov r, M.P., is battling to save the old man.—l am, etc., W. J. BELL.
