THE NEW NATAL COLLEGE.
Our illustration of the new naval college at Qaborne, just opened by the King, will give a complete idea of the extensive buildings which have thus been placed, at.the disposal of the navy, thanks to the gracious interest of Ilis Majesty, who handed over several acres of the Royal estate at Osborne for the purpose. The new college is near the road between East Cowes and Whippingham, and the cadets were 'to go into residence at the college last month. Tlie
buildiflgs which were the Royal stables have been metamorphosed into a cadets' dining-rooom nearly 100 feet long, with class and lecture rooms, laboratories, and professors' rooms. There is a gymnasium 170 feet long, completely fitted up with all the latest and best appliances, and a very large recreation room. The officers' quarters arc handsome and convenient. In the anteroom is a representation of the Victory, with ihe motto beneath which was Nelson's signal at Trafalgar. Captain R. E. Wemyss is in command at the college.
