WEST END LAWN TENNIS CLUB.
The thirteenth annual meeting of the above club was held in tlie Ponsonby Hall on Monday evening. Despite the inclement state of The weather, there was a good attendance of the members. The President (Air C. ,T. Parr) presided. The Hon. Secretary (Mr 11. McCoy) read the annual report, which showed the club to be in a nourishing condition, the membership roll having reached the limit. The club was still the proud retainer of the ladies' and gentlemen's championships for the Auckland province. The Hon. Treasurer (Mr W. If. Burton) read the balance sheet, which disclosed a small credit balance, notwithstanding the large amount spent on improving the lawns during the winter recess. The election of officers resulted as follows:—
President, Mr C. J. Parr (re-elected); vicepresidents, Bishop Lenihan, Veil. Archdeacon ("aider, Dr. Hood. Messrs J. Kirker, J. If. Upton, John Court, J. Hodgson, A. Littler, P. Darby, E. R. Foster, W. Hutchinson. A. S. Russell, VV. J. Napier. T. W. Davis; lion, secretary, Mr W. A. Brown; hou. treasurer, Mr R. Angus: ground superintendent, Mr J. Patterson; gent's committee. Messrs W. 11. Burton, 11. McCoy, A. Goldie, B. Gittos, F. Tibbs: ladies' committee, Mrs Newel!, Misses Billington, A. Nicholson. Oittos, anil Butters; delegates to association, Messrs 11. McCoy ami .1. Paterson; haudieapper, Mr W. 11. Burton; auditors. Messrs 11. Gentles, F. Ewen. A spirited discussion look place with reference to classifying of players,and the incoming committee were instructed to take such steps as they deemed necessary to improve the standard of play, and at the same time consider the welfare of all members. A number of new members were nominated for election. Voles of 1 hanks wore afforded to the outgoing committee. A special vote of thanks was tendered to the ({round Superintendent (Air J. I'aterson), and on behalf of the ciub, the President, presented him with a handsome case of pipes, as a slight token of appreciation of his valuable services rendered to the club. The recipient suitably responded. The meeting then terminated with a vole of thanks to the Chairman.
