There was a good attendance at Messrs Baker Bros.' auction to-day. A section in Clarence-street, Ponsonby, was sokl for £82; a villa at Esplanaderoad, Mount Eden, changed hands at £455. The property at Avondale was sold prior to the auction at £400. Linen valued at £15 was destroyed by fire in the drying room at tho Criterion Laundry, Albert-street, yesterday evening. It is supposed that a sheet hanging from a line touched a stove in the centre of the room and Avas ignited. The flames were soon extinguished and the building was not damaged. An ideal spirit for both sexes WOLFE'S SCHNAPPS.
