LABOUR DAY COMMITTEE.
The Labour Day Committee met in tho Federal Hall last evening, when tenders for bands, refreshments, and side shows were considered. The tender of Mrs Hunt of £10 for the sole right to provide refreshments was accepted, and the Garrison Baud and No.-1 Infantry Band were engaged. Correspondence from employers and business firms who intended to co-operate- was read. A ballot to decide the positions to be taken in the procession by the various unions resulted in the following order: —City Council, seamen, certificated enginedrivers, carpenters and joiners, grocers' assistants, wharf labourers, fishcurers, - timber workers, house painters bootmakers, tiauiway employees, saddlers, gas stokers and coalers, flourmill employees, gum sorters, curriers, A.K. engineers, sugar workers, shipwrights, carters, iron moulders, bakers, furniture trades, sail, tent, and cover makers, builders' labourers, plumbers and giisiitters, butchers. The Darktown Fire Brigade were granted permission to march in the rear of the pioeession. A special meeting to be held on October 12 will make final arrangements.
