A meeting convened by the Mayoi was held to-day to consider wnat should be done by the citizens prior to the de, psrture of' Lady Ranfurly on November 12 for London, to mark their tsteenj of the Countess' goodness of heart arid general popularity. The Premier -ffaj amongst those present. It was decide! to tender Her Ladyship a reception, and from the remarks made by Mr Beddon it will probably take place at Par, liamentary Buildings. A committee was set xip to arrange details. The Mayor will ascertain whether the proposal meets with Her Ladyship's approval, and whether there would be any objection to asking her acceptance of an addresj or some work of art as a memento.
