HELP FROM THE COLONIES.
THE SYDNEY NAVAL BRIGADE,
SYDNEY, July 10.
The Naval Brigade is being canvassed as to whether it will go to China as a land force. The suggestion is made that they should man the warship Tauranga, at present laid up in Sydney.
The Tauranga, at present in the reserve at Sydney, is one of the auxiliary squadron on the Australasian station, and is a sister ship to the Mildura, Wallaroo, Mohawk,. Katoomba and Ringarooma. The Tauranga is a twin-screw steel cruiser of 2575 tons displacement', has a horse-powei' of 7500, and can travel at 19 knots per hour. Her armament consists of eight 4^-inch guns,, eight 3-pounder quickfiring guns,and four magazine guns.
