THE QUEENSLAND LOAN
BRISBANE, July 10.
The Premier is disappointed, but not surprised, at the result of the Queensland loan. The . Government, he says, acted entirely on the advice of the Bank of England as to the price at which the minimum was fixed and the loan underwritten. He considers the South African war loans, the Chinese trouble, and the probability of further financial troubles in Russia adversely affected \the loan. Probably the bank thought if it was delayed longer the results would be worse. lie admitted the Government would have td be careful over railway construction.
LONDON, July 10. The Queensland loan averaged £94 0/1.
