CHURCH SERVICES.

Special services were held yesterday in tha Berosford-streeb and Newton Congregational Churches in connection with' tha visit) of the London Missionary Society's new steamer John Williams. In the morning Capfc. Hore, of the John Williams, preached at Boresford-street, and in the course of big address he reviewed the work of the Loodon Missionary Society in India, Madagascar, China, Africa, the South Sea Islands and New Guinea. In the afternoon a children's demonstration was held in the church, when Captain Hore' gave an address to the children on the missionary operations of the John Williams The Rev. F. W. Walker, of New Guinea', who is in Auckland in connection with the building of a new schooner by Lane and Brown at) Whangaroa for mission work in New Sfuinea, spoke on New Guinea missionary work, and the Rev. J. King Bpoke on missionary work generally. At the clobq of the addresses Captain Hore distributed tbo prizes to the different Sunday schools in connection with the collections for the John Williams fund. The native crew (Aitutaki men) of the John Williams sang hymns in their own language. A collection was taken up for the John Williams fund. To-nighb the annual meeting of bbc Auxiliary of the London Aliabionary Society will be held in the Bere* ford-streefc Church. Addresses will be given by Capb. Hore, tho Rev. J. King and the Rev. F. W. Walker, of New Guinea. At tha Newton Congregational Church services were conducted by the Rev. F. Warner and tho Rev. J. King, the topics being missionary work. Hymn* were aung bjr some of the crew of the John Williams. otwors of the crew baing present at the City Hall evangelistic service, when they sang hymns. Ab the Mount Eden Congregational Church, the services were conducted yesterday by the Rev. F. W. Walker and Cupfc, Hore.

Yesterday, the anniversary services in connection with the Alexandra • Btreot Primitive Methodist Sunday-school were held in tbe Choral Hall, the morning, afternoon, and evening services being con" ducted by the Revs. W. J. Williams, GH. ManUj and C. E. Ward, respectively. There were very largo attendances ab each service. The hall was prettily decorated for bhe day. The collections, including special donations, totalled £50 13s.
