Mr Alexander Gillespie, who baa been custodian of the Government House since IS7I, diod shortly after midnight. He was seized with colic at four o'clock on Thursday and . was attended by both Dre. Haines and Kenderdine, bub their skill failed to prolong life. Mr Gillespie was a native of Bannockburn, Sterlingahire, Scotland, and was 55 years of age. He leaves a widow and seven children, the youngest) being 12 years of age. Deceased belonged to Lodge United Service, 42 I. C. *
Benjamin Davis pleaded guilty ab the Supreme Court this morning to having stolen a quantity of goods belonging to the T. and S. Morrln Company. Sentence was deferred. Kerei Kaihau was charged with removing a trig station. Mr O'Meagher appeared on his behalf, and pleaded guilty to removing, but not destroying. His Honor put the prisoner on probation for six months, and ordered him to pay the costs of prosecution within three months.
