At a meeting of Mr J. M. Shera's supporters in St. James Hall on Friday night (Mr W. Duncan J.P. presiding) it was resolved by acclamation that Mr Shera was bhe righb man for Ciby West Ib was agreed bhat the candidate should address a public meeting this week, probably on Thursday nighb and the gentlemen present were formed into a committee, with power to add to there number, to secure the return of Mr Shera." A discussion followed respecting the Village Settlement Scheme, and everyone present expressed the necessity for a bona fide settlement of the land upon the most beneficial terms. A resolution was moved by Mr C. SWright, and unanimously earned, express ing confidence in Mr Shera, and pledging bhe meeting bo do everything possible to secure his election. The committee adjourned until Wednesday night.
