The gold exported from New Zealand during March last amounted to 70,9670z5., valued at £253,797. Of this, £26,758 wortli went from Auckland.

Tho Cromwoll Quartz Mining Company, Otago, which has paid £18,250 in dividends since ISGD, has lately been non-paying, and it is proposed to cease operations. A minority of shareholders wish to spend £4,000 in sinking to tho lower levels.

An attempt is to be mado to work the deposits of green carbonite of copper discovered by Ford and Partridge, in the Malvern district, Canterbury. Analysis shows there is a sufficient quantity of the metal to make it profitable, and a Company is to be formed under the title of the Malvern and Cornish Copper Mining Company.

The proprietors of the Whauwhau colliery at Whnngarei have now in course of construction a new double inclined plane, which will give such facilities to the mine us will secure an output of 300 tons per working day of eight hours. It is eight feet wide by six feet in height, and six hundred feet in length, being constructed at a coat of £200. This inclined plane is intended to open up the remaining area of the field, and from this point drives will radiate in all directions. The main drive has been constructed with the object of increasing the output of the mine, pending its being connected with the Government railway Tins by a line a little aver a mile in length,
