CITY SCHOOLS COMMITTEE.
The usual fortnightly meeting was held last evening. Present—Messrs E. Carr (Chairman), Crowther, Hannan, and Billington. Mr Winstone's tender was aocepted for the Bupply of coals to Bchools. The petition to tho General Assembly against any alteration of tho present Education Act was submitted. Member* expressed themselves opposed to any change, but decided to postpone consideration of tho matter- till next meeting, thai a fuller attendance might be secured. Mr Aley wrote tendering hta resignation as a member of Committee, which was accepted. —MrWorthington reported that he had, in company with the second master, made an inspection of the whole of the Wellesleystreot School premises, and found them clean and free front noxious smells. Ho also onclosed list of requisites, which It was agreed should be supplied. — A letter from the Board stated that tho Kindergarten system would bo carried on as desired by tho Committeo at the Wollesley-street School.— Tho Secretary of the Board wrote stating that tho following changes have been authorised by the Board ;— Wellesley-street School: Mr Walter Kerr and Mr Denis R. Flavell to bo employed as probationers ; Miss Jessie Evans as pupil teacher, on probation ; Mi*s Jane A. Smart, pupil teacher, romoved. Beresford-street School: Mr Alexander English, to be employed as probationer, and Miss Mary Fraser as pupil teacher, on probation. Nelson-street School ; Miss Warner, probationer, to be removed ; Miss Rose Bloom to be employed as pupil teacher, an probation.
