CITY BOARD MEETING.
THIS DAY.
The usual bi-monthly meeting of the Board was held this afternoon, at two o'clock.
Present:—Messrs. P. A. * Philips, (Chairman), T. Maeready, Atkin, George, Hampton, Bugden, Staines, Asher. Water Supply. —A letter from a number of residents in Mechanics' Bay was read, complaining of the non-supply of water in their district, and askin? for the erection of a pump of water, aud pointing out a never-fail-ing spring of water on the east side of the Supremo Court. — Mr. Maeready moved, '•' That the letter be forwarded to his Honor the Superintendent, recommending a pump aud trough* to be erected, and a pipe laid down to the main from tlie Domain.
Babeack street. —A letter from the inhabitants of the south side of Abercrombiestreet was read, asking to have the embankm.ent cut away, so as to give tbem tho use of af of.path.— Moved by Mr. Bugclen, seconded, by Mr. George, " That the prayer of the petition be acceded to, provided all the ratepayers agree."—Mr. Atkin had no objection to the work being done, but not unless every rate payer was willing.—Motion agreed to. _?c_.r_ic Pound.—A letter from Sergeant Evers, resigning his office as Poundkeeper, was read, together with a memo, from the Inspector of Police recommending that the Pound be handed over to the City Board. A memo, from the Provincial Secretary accompauh'd the resignation, asking the opinion of the Board on the subject.
