A MAN DROWNED AT KAUWAERANGA.

iNPOEHATioisr was given to-day, at noon, that a man named George Moore had been drowned in crossing the Kauwaeranga Creek. It seems that deceased, Edward Nixon, and a man named " Barney" left Shortland early this morning for the gum-diggings. They were riding on the pack-horses, and o-n arriving at the fourth crossing of the stream, Moore went in first, and the current being strong, the horse he was on was too weak to stem it, and it was overturned, when Moore was swept off its back. He was seen floating down the river for about twenty yards, and then was lost sight of. The body has not yet been recovered, nor will be till the flood now on the river ha 3 somewhat subsided. It is said that Moore leaves a Avife and family.— Thames Eve nina Mail.
