DEATH OF HER MAJESTY QUEEN KALAMA.

reiict of his Jate Majesty Kamehameha 111., died, after a long and painful illness, at her residence in Honalulu, on Tuesday, the 20th inst., at H'.3oa.m. Her Majesty was born at Kaelehuluhulu, near Kail ua, Hawaii, in 1817, and was, consequently, :at the time of bet decease, fifty-three years of age. -Slie was married to his late Majesty Kamehameha 111, by the Rev.- Hiram Bingham; sen., on the 14th day of February, 1837, being at the time twenty -years of age. During- the life time of her Royal husband, who died on the 15th of December, 1854, the was greatly respected by all, for her dignified and courteous demeanour. Since his death she has lived almost uniformly in. retirement, either at her residence in town or at Nuuanu, seldom appearing in-public. Her life, in the n.eantimo, has been marked-by the same characteristics of cordiality and kindness to all, possessing the same dignity of demeanour as when she presided with her husband at the Royal Palace.
