SERIOUS ACCIDENT ON THE MOANATAIRI WATER RACE.

Tuesday, September 27. A CoiOBED man named Clements, in the employment of this company, whilst engaged in jacking a log of kauri, this afternoon, met with a painful accident. It appears that tbe jack gave way, and he was caught between two immense logs, and only by the most strenuous efforts was released. He was at once brought to the Hospital, and it was found necessary to amputate his leg, which was done by Dr. Lethbri<*ge, the resident surgeon, assisted by Drs. Kilgour and Trosseau. — Herald.
