Mr. B. Tonks held a clearing out sale of pictures, fancy goods, &c, at the stores lately in the occupation of Mr. J. Harris, Short-land-street. There was a numerous attendance, and some of the articles fetched more than ordinary prices. Mr. S. Jones held a sale of sugar, groceries, &c, at his mart to-day. Melbourne sugars, No. 1, fetched s£d ; ditto, No. 2, 4fd ; teas, 2s lid ; Devoe's kerosene, 3s 6d; maize, 4s lOd ; bacon, 7d ; butter, Bd. Messrs. S. Cochrane held an important sale of groceries, wines, spirits, beers, &c, at their mart, to-day. The sale was well represented by the trade, and some of the lines were quitted at more than ordinary rates. The following is a list of the prices :— Teas—Half-chests congou, Is 4d to Is lOd ; chests, 235. Groceries, etc. —Brown and Co.'s cornflour, sJrd to 7d ; starch, 4]d ; Colman's blue starch, 4£d ; Taylor's cocoa, -[s 5d ; ditto chocolate, Is 3d; Collier's cocoa, 3,._ d ; preserved milk, lis 6d ; round plaid vestas, 6s 9d to 6s 10 ; vinegar, in bulk, 2s 6d; brown wrapping paper, 3d ; hops, old, 2id to 3d ; sherry in bond, in bulk, 6s 6d ; whiskey, ditto, 4s ; brandy in case, in bond. 15s ; champagne, quar's, 26s ; pints, 15s ; Allsopp's ale, quarts, 7s; Younger's ale, 43 6d ; Bridges' stout, quarts, 6s ; pints, 4s 6d ; claret, 17s to 18s; white lead, 295; patent dryers, 4 d ; muatz metal, Bid ; composition metal nails, Bfd; Portland cement, 13s 3d; Manila rope, 6id.
