ARRIVAL OF THE 'ST. KILDA.'

Thes s.St. Kilda arrived in the Manukau this morning, bringing Wanganui papers to the 7th instant.
WANGANUI, Sept. 7.
Mr. and Mrs. George Darrell have arrived by the Charles Edwards, from Nelson, and will appear to morrow. The Wanganui left for Wellington to-day. NELSON, September 5.
Charge op Embezzlement. —The charge of embezzlement against Francis Harris, late Sub-Treasurer of the Nelson Province, was partly heard on the 2nd instant. The information set forth that the said Francis Harris did, within the period of six m-nths, last past, being then in the service of Oswell Curtis, Superintendent of the Province of Nelson, feloniously steal, take, and carry away the sum of £1231 3s. 2d., the moneys of the said Oswald Curtis, his mister. The evidence of Mr. Henry Don_A>s Jackson, Provincial Auditor of Nelson . lYiiuoc, was taken, and case adjourned till 9th inst. WELLINGTON, September 7-
Henry Southcombe, charged with selling powder to natives, was tried at the Supreme Court, this morning, and a verdict of not guilty was recorded. James is now in the box.
