ARRIVAL OF THE STAR OF THE SOUTH.
This favourite steamer has made a capital passage to Napier and back, having been absent from this port only six days. Captain Bendall reports leaving Auckland on Saturday eveiung last, and arriving at Napier after a good run of forty-one hours. She took on board •_ cargo of cattle, and left Napier on Wednesday, the 15th inst., at 8 p.m.; arrived off Wangauhai (Mahia Peninsula) at 3 a.m. on Thursday, the 16th, and embarked nine natives, leaving again at 5^ a.m. j,, rounded East Cape at 2 p.m. same day;;- ps>s'6d...Red Mercury Island afc-B'a.m on 'Friday, the* l7th, and arrived ab Kohimarama at 4 p.m.; landed deck loud of sheep,' and arrived off Auckland-wharf at; 6 p.m. same day: Experienced strong S. and S.W. winds throughout the passage. Passengers :—Cabin, from Napier—Mrs. Nasmith and family (five), native chief Katlani arid wife, and seven natives and two Europeans in the steerage.
