The letter of .our correspondent " J. W. F." is too pointed ; besides any one of the aggrieved has a remedy in the law courts. We can say that we sympathise with ihe victims, believing that they could not have been wholly without suspicion of the relations between the parties, and that they feel the nonpayment of accounts more than the offence to morality. In the Police Court this day, there were but two drunkards, but, as if to supply in quality the deficiency in quantity, each of them was for a third offence ; in fact, one of them, a woman, presented an aspect so wild and wo-begone as would make the heart sad. The vagrant propensities of the horses and goats of the city came in three instances under judicial notice, and one familiar face, with plenty of " oily gammon," but an unfortunate appendage of six convictions for stealing, and tour for vagrancy, was again returned to grace the Garden of Eden for having fallen in love with a brooch of the value of three shillings and sixpence. It is a great pity that a man who has so repeatedly shown himself unworthy of liberty should ever,be allowed abroad again to trouble his fellow beings with his irrepressible propensities. Sudden Death of Me. Fawcett, the Actob.—The Cleveland Say Express records the death of a well-known Australian actor, Mr. T. ~W. Rowe, better known in the theatrical world as Mr. Tom Fawcett —which occurred at the Commercial Hotel, Townsville. The deceased had been suffering from dysentery for some days previous to his death, but no fatal result was anticipated until a very short time before it took place. He was interred on the same afternoon in the cemetery, and was followed to the grave by many of his friends and admirers. He was a popular actor everywhere, and during his lengthened connection with that celebrated tragedian, the late Mr. G-. V. Brooke, with whom he used to play, he displayed an amount of versatile talent which promised for him a wealthier if not a happier .future. He leaves a wife and one child to mourn their loss. At the time of his death he was lessee of the Theatre Royal, Townsville.
