THE VOLUNTEERS.
A iabgeiy attended meeting of the .nieiuJbe^g of No. 3 Company A. E. V. was held on Mon\ day evening, at the Alexandra Hotel, Parnell, for the purpose of electing officers, and other business. Ensign O'Connell was unanimously elected Lieutenant; Colour-Sergesliit Scottev was elected Ensign; Sergeant A. MeOonnell was elected Colour-Sergeant; Corporal Osbqrno was elected Sergeant; and Private Edgerby was elected Corporal. " After the election of oflicers, some discussion took place on the question of increasing the strength of the company, and it was resolved that ten additional members should be obtained, if possible, and be provided with uniforms out of the company's funds. A long discussion also took place upon tho q\iestion of the continued absence of Major Heaphy (Captain of No. & Company) at Wellington ; and it seemed to be the opinion of many of the members that he ought to be called upon to resign his position as Captain of the Company.
