GOLDFIELDS REWARD COMMIS-SION.-Thursday.
The Commissioners sat at ten o'clock this morning.
CLAIM OF JEBOJIE CADMAN. Claimant attended and made a statement to the Commissioners of his having in company with three other persons, prospected the Manaia block, at Coromandel, in search for gold, at the latter part of 1853, and obtained gold in the tributaries of the Manaia Creek— principally alluvial gold. Claimant produced samples of alluvial and reef gold found by them. He was the first who had received a permit from Mr. Mackay to prospect on the Manaia, which he did with the consent of the natives. He founds his claim on having first discovered gold on the Manaia goldfield, which he i* perfectly satisfied is a payable goldfield. William Cadman, claimant's son, gave corroborative evidence. This case was concluded. CLAM OF WILLIAM MCGEEOOB.
Mr, Turton, jun., appeared for claimant. Claimant bases his claim to the reward on the fact that he, in company with the , Messrs. Bing, his mates, was the first dia- | • coverer of gold on the banks of the Kapanga '} River, Ooromandel, in 1852, when prospecting for alluvial gold. He had been living at Kikowhakarere since 1845, and he had never heard of gold being found in this province until they made this discovery.— Evening Mail.
