I OPENING OF SEASON. I The Akaroa Golf Club opened its season yesterday when there were be- | tween thirty and forty players and their friends present, besides several ( visitors. Mr Jacobson, vice-president, in the absence of Mr Geo. Armstrong, president, declared the season opened, .saying that the Club was starting on jits third season which promised to bs an enthusiastic one as far as players were concerned. ! The links are now in really good order and the large number of visiting players who have played on them during the summer pronounced the course a most interesting -test for the best exponents of the game. | Several competitions w,ere played yesterday afternoon which resulted as follows:— Ladies Driving Competition. G. Riches j W. Jacobson 2 " Men's Approach and Putting Competition. F. G. Armstrong 1 T. Calishaw 2 Men's Approach. J. L. Davis 1 F. G. Armstrong 2 Afternoon tea was partaken of at the second green and afterwards a Canadian Foursome was played, resulting as follows*:P. G. Riches and Miss A. Le Lievre beat D. Mora and Mrs Allom 3 up. J. L. Davis and Mrs J. E. Armstrong beat A. W. Judd and Miss J Le Lievre 4 up. W Robinson and Miss B. Jacobson, and W. Jacobson and Mrs J. L. Davis finished all square.
