AKAROA AND WAINUI ROAD BOARD.

The usual fortnightly meeting o£ the above Board was held at the office on Saturday last. Present —Mess rs Houghton (in the chair), Lelievre, and Shadbolt. CORRESPONDENCE. From W. Kenny, intimating that he could obtain no satisfactory information as to the £10 sajd to have been paid to Ware, but to close the matter with the Government, and the Board was willing to accept the £41 as per Mr. Fenton's certificate. Mr. Lelievre moved—"That the sum of £41 be paid to Mr. Kenny." The motion was seconded by Mr. Shadbolt, and carried. From Mr. Rolleston, referring to previous correspondence re the Pigeon Bay road, and enclosing account of amount due to the contractor, (T. S. Johnston,) £107 14s. 3d., and informing the Board that the records in the provincial office, shew that the balance of the grant was paid over to the Board, with the understanding, on the part of the late Provincial Government, that their liability would be liquidated by the Board. The consideration was deferred for a full meeting of the Board. From Mr. Kolleston, informing the Board that he is unwilling to transfer the papers, maps, and plans, from the late Provincial District Engineer's office to the keeping of the Board, as the papers belong to the Public Work's department. From G Cossar, calling the Boards attention to that part of the road in Pawson's valley, fronting section 12,790, and requesting that Mr. Fenton be employed to point out the right line. Mr. Shadbolt proposed—" That Mr. Fenton be instructed to report on the most practicable line of road." Mr. Lelievre seconded the motion, which was carried. From J. Libeau, expressing his willingness to bear the expense for surveying the road running thiough his land, together with cost of all advertisements, and offering to forward amount at request of the Board. The clerk was instructed to inform Mr. Libeau, that, on his depositing a sum on account, the Board will sanction his application. • TENDERS.

For Wainui Bridge. — Staples and Thomas (three months), £150 ;. Vangiona and Wooddill (three months) £68 ; Sigley and Dickson (seven weeks), £64 ; J. Barwick (ten weeks.; £80. German Bay Valley Road. —Vangiona and Wooddill, forming on flat, culverts included, £1 15s per chain ; benching per chain, £1 5s (two months); Edmondson, Martin, and Co., forming, 29s per chain, benching, 29s per chain (five weeks), J. Carwin, 14s per chain for forming; benching, 20s, L. Libeau, £25 15s.(informal) ; Staples and Thomas (two months), forming, 30s per chain; benching, £2 10s per chain ; J. Curtis and Co. (four months), forming, £1 10s ; benching, £1 7s ; T. Johnston (ond month), forming, £1 6s per chain (informal) ; Sigley and Dickson (seven weeks), formation, £2 per chain ; benching, £1 10s per chain. The tender of J. Carwin was accepted. Metalling Pigeon Bay Road. —John Lines (two months), 7s lid per yard; Robert Stewart (three months) 7s per yard ; Gunning and Co. (three months), 7s per y.ard ; J. McEvoy, 7s 9d per yard (informal). The tender of R. Stewart was accepted, subject to the contract being completed within two months. Quarrying and brealdng metal, Little River Road. —Martin and Edmondson (three months) 4s 8d per yard; lower quarry, 4s per yard (informal), T. G. Dewar, 3s 5d per yard. The tender of T. G.
