AKAROA AND WAINUI ROAD BOARD.

A meeting of the above Board was held at the Board's office on Saturday last. Present—Messrs Piper (chairman), Houghton, Shadbolt, and Lelievre. correspondence,. From Miles, Hassal and Co., intimating that Mr. Hassel was not the owner of section 33,314 for which he had been rated, and requesting that his name be withdrawn from the assessment roll. From E. Chapped, complaining of the high assessment made on his property, and that section No 20,741 is not in his possession, it not having yet been surveyed ; also, asking whether the Long Bay Road is still in abeyance for want of funds, and stating that it was high time the energetic Board looked into the box where it

keeps its red tape, and see if it was not rotten. From Richard Rowe, objecting to the number of the section on which his house stands, and stating that it appears in Crown Grant 47, of which section he only occupies, about two acres ; also, complaining of the high assessment, and stating that he would consider himself fortunate if he secured £25 per annum. TENDERS. .Fb?* French Farm Creek. —Sigley and Dickson, £219, four months ; J. Vangioni, four months, £190. Mr. Shadbolt proposed—"That the tender of Vangioni be accepted, on condition that the work be completed within three months, and that the contractors deposit 10 per cent to ensure the completion of the work." The motion was seconded by Mr. Houghton, and carried. Metalling German Say Main Road. —J. Hammond, ten weeks, £5 per chain; J. Lines, two months, £G~lßs 4d. Mr. Houghton proposed—"That Mr. Hammond's tender be accepted." The motion was seconded by Mr. Shadbolt, and carried. Protective Works, Barry's Bay Valley. — R. Sigley and Dickson's tender be accepted, and that the sum of £35 be held back for the space of six months, to ensure the permanence of the job." Mr. Lelievre seconded the motion, which was carried.
