WEDDING

SHANLEY—HIGGINS. ~., A quiet but. pretty wedding; of .local ■ interest took place on Easter Monday, April 17, at St. John the Baptist's Church, Hunterville, when Miss Phyllis Eona Higgins, elder daughter of Mris G. E. Higgins, of Hunterville, and the late Mr J. Higgins, was married to MiGeorge Francis Shanley, of Taihape. The Rev. C. It.' Kreeft conducted the service. The bride, who entered the church with her brother, Mr C. B. Higgins, of Auckland, was wearing a beautifully cut white silk lace frock with matching centre. The froek was sleeveless with fitting bodice and fully flared ankle-length \skirt, ;' the coatee was waist 'length, jvitft prettily puffed sleeves. : Her embroidered tulle veil, daintily arranged to fit closely to the head, was fastened with orange blossom and fell in graceful folds io form a train. A sheaf of cream roses, chrysanthemums and maidenhair fern, with long white ribbons, was' carried. Miss Norma Higgins, sister of thd bride, acted as bridesmaid, wearing a very prettily cut ankle-length frock- of iioral pique voile in autumn shades, with a lemon picture hat and shoes to tone;-: She i carried a posy of autumntinted flowers. Mr Alec Chisholm supported the bridegroom. The service was fully choral, with Mrs A. C. Charles, of Ohingaiti, at the organ. After the ceremony the reception was held at the home of the bride's mother, only-relatives .being present. Mrs Higgins, mother of the bride, received her"guests wearin'g a handsome model ensemble in the new wine shade with smart hat and shoes to match, and carried an autumn tinted posy.i The bridegroom's mother wore a smart froek of black, marocain with hat to tone, and also carried an autumntinted posy. Later, Mr and Mrs Shanley left by motor en route to Kawau Island, where the honeymoon was to be spent, the latter wearing a smart rust costume and hat with an eye-veil.
