LATE COMMERCIAL.

. "• I ASHBURTON GRAIN MARKET. Business has been fairly brisk during the past weekjowing to a better tone prevailing m the various markets. Linseed, which made such an unexpected recovery last week, has again become dull of sale, due to the fact that Australian buyers have now withdrawn from the New Zealand market. Values to-day are nominally £12 to £13 on trucks, with small enquiry. Oats have not shown any alteration since last report. A certain amount of export business continues, but North Island merchants are not displaying any keen interest at present. Prices are practically unchanged since last report. Heavy A Grade Gartons would command 2s lOd to 2s lid with 'B Grade m the vicinity of 2s 9d, on trucksChaff if anything is slightly easier, £3 15s being about the outside value to-day. Clovers are m more demand, but growers are holding for higher prices. Ryegrass also shows a firming tendency. It is evident that higher prices will rule m the spring. Heavy samples of Italian and Western Wolths are of interest. Potatoes still remain very dull with small interest being evidenced by merchants. North Island merchants appear to be under the impression that their market will again be flooded with consignments from .the Growers' Association, consequently will not operate to any extent. Values still remain at about £2 10s on trucks, sacks supplied.
