Most of the sufferers are assured against starvation by grain at relief stations, which entire 1 famine districts can reach at a crucial j period. When spring comes the weakened people will take up work on the land, which, however, is heavily mortgaged,, and they will be without farm animals. The winter wheat crops generally «lobk excellent, and there has been no epidemic saye v the usual occasional typhus* cases. Relief funds available total' ten million dollars, and it is estimated that seven million more will be required.
