FOOD FOR PARIS
(Received March 3, 1.15 p.m.)
PARIS, March 1. The Food Ministry's scheme for purchasing certain foodstuffs in England and America, and cheapening the cost of living comes into operation on Thursday. It lowers restaurant prices by thirty per cent. The Ministry acknowledges indebtedness to Britain for furnishing shipping on favourable conditions, and also !Mr Hoover's co-operation. It is pointed out that three decimal twenty-five francs latterly spent in Paris were equivalent only to two decimal eighty francs in New York, and one decimal seventy in London.
