THE ATTACK ON THE COLONIAL CORPS.
TURKS SHORT OF AMMUNITION
ATHENS, May 28. Details of the fighting at Gaba Tope on the 21st, show that the Turns attacked at 3 in the morning by desperate assaults in serried columns. These last 12 hours, at the end of which time the Australians wore able to signal that they were holding their own easily. Then the Australians and New Zeabnders drove back thn onemy with the bayonet, pursuing them'in the open with groat slaughter. Despite the loss of the battleships, everyone is most confident. Optimism is increased by the established fact that the Turco-Gennans are short of ammunition. . Shrapnel loaded with pebbles and shells with an inner casing
of wood, is being used. This was supplied by German contractors when the Kaiser was fraternising with Abdul Hamid.
