NAiißßj.Sept. 11 In the Supreme Court, the jury disagreed in the ca?e of James itooiey, charged with indecent assault, and a new trial was ordered for Monday.
Information was received in town to-day of the drowning, at Mawhanga on Thursday, of an elderly man named Thomas Houston. The river was being dragged, but up to the time of the coach leaving, the body had not been recovered. There are no particulars as to how the drowning occurred.
The golf match, Kurupori Tareha v. Gillies, of Auckland, was won by the former. Hokitika, Sept. 11 In connection with the recent discovery of a male infant in the Hokitika River, an elderly woman named McLaughlin and a young girl named Louisa Harding were arrested this afternoon and will be charged with manslaughter to-morrow. ,
