Nautiloid hung afc the post and was left several lengths. When the field had settled down, Gist and Royal Crown were at the hoad of affairs. Turning the bend for home Nautiloid had made up a lot of her lost ground, and had j run into fourth place. Miss Hamilton at this point made a determined run from the inside, and was ou terms with the leaders at the distance. Drawing away, she won by nearly a couple of lengths, Marksman a length behind Great Gun. Time—l,!B 3.5 th Totalisator—269. Dividends—£lo 13s and £1 16s.

The Btart was delayed through the vagaries of Lee Enfield, who refused to join hia horses. Ultimately, a splendid despatch ■was effected, Cyclas Parva and Sophistic getting the best of it. After going a furlong King Dick fell and parted company with his rider,. who had his collarbone fractured. The field closed up at the home stretch, where Lee Enfield and Gladsome assumed command. The former looked all over a winner, but compounded in the next hundred yards. Gladsome was then tackled by Lolah, and a magnificent struggle took place between this pair right up to the post, the verdict being in favour of Gladsome by a nose. Ordnance cime well from the distance, securing third place just in front of Lee Enfield. Muscovite and Black Tracker were scratched. Time —1.2 4.5 th ceo. Totalisator—39l. Dividend— £2 2s. The owner was heartily cheered when the horses returned to the weighing enclosure.

The aura of .£1499 was passed through the machine for the day, making a total of J83371 foi the two days, an increase of ,£BO3 over the corresponding meeting last year.
