He stuck a match and ft terrific explosion resulted. He was hurled t • the floor and the room waa m flames Mis MoKenzle and the family wee m the room at the time but wore unable to escape for a time as the explosion blocked the door. MoKanzie soon recovered and had great difficulty m subduing tHe flimes The side of the house was blown out between three and four inohes by the force of the explosion. Several artloles m the room were des troyed and paper on lh<a walls and ceiling burnt off. The windows were damaged. How Mr and Mrs McKoDzle escaped is miraoulous but they were singed before they vi ere able to make their exit.
