HIT WITH A TOMAHAWK
A MURDEROUS ASSAULT. CHINAMAN SEVERELY WOUNDED TE KUITI, Wednesday. A Chinese fruiterer named Joe Hoe was the subject of a murderous attack last night. A man entered his shop ostensibly to purchase fruit, but when the Chinaman's back was turned struck his head with a tomahawk, inflicting a severe cut. The man then decamped. The wound is severe, but not dangerous, and the victim suffered considerable loss of blood. The Chinaman asserts that he knows the assailant by sight. No arrest has yet been made.
