THE CHEAP RAILWAY EXCURSION FROM AUCKLAND.
As was anticipated, the cheap excursion given by the 1 ail way department to Ngaruawnhia and Hamilton on Tuesd.iy was a gre<vfc niicce»s, the tiain having been natronihed by nearly 400 excursionists. The train consisted of about sixteen carriage:!, all of which were comfortably filled indeed some of them may be said to have been mote than comfoitably filled. On arrival at Ngaruawahia about forty people alighted and disttibutcd themselves in small parties about the district. The remainder came on to Hamilton, where they spent the few hours allowed them in beeing all the places of interest in the vicinity. A few patronised the Navigation Company 'h steamer and enjoyed a tiip up the river aa f.ir an the Nanowa. J)uriug the stay of the visitors the town presented an unusually lively appeaiance.
