In the Indus— 23o head cattle, Bird; The schooner Kate, Capt. Owen, arrived in Wellington harbor yesterday forenoon, 17 days out from Napier. She experienced Westerly winds for four days after leaving, followed by a heavy gale from the Norlh, lasting for 20 hours, which drove her a long way out of her course, and acctuntsfor the lengthened passage. Heavy weather was experienced the whole time. She brings 54 bales of wool and has three passengers on board. The brig Spray, from Sydney, arrived to-day after a passage of eleven days, during which time she waß considerably delayed by having her fore and main yard carried away during a sudden and violent squall on the 27th ultimo, in lat. 40.21, and long. 160.44. During the same squall the mate of the vessel Mr, David Harrow, by the fall of on© of the yards, had his left arm broken. The bones were set with all the surgical skill possible, and he is now gradually recovering from the effects of the accident. On several daya during the rest of the passage the Spray had north-easterly winds, with thick weather and very heavy rain, during the prevalence of which she split her foresail and other canvass. — Daily Times, Feb. 5 The following vessels are reported by the Sydney papers as having changed hands during the past month : — Agnes Jessie, schooner, to Capt. M'Kinlay, for £2,700 ; Kate Kearney, to Mr J. Wilson, for £1,050; Brisk, brig, to Mr Williams, for ; Fury, barquo, to Mr J, Malcolm, junr, for £2,025; Sylph, schooner, to Mr J. J. Peacock, for £885 ; Matthew Vassar, schooner," to Mr Cook. The barque Bessie, Captain Gay, is refitting in Pigeon Bay. Early in the week she stepped a new mainmast of sugar-loaf pine, and in a short time will be in good trim for her ijrip to British Colnmbia.—Lyttellon Times, 7th insfc. The Winslow, 637 tons, French whaling ship, Laurent Labaste, Commander, sailed from Akaroa harbour for the South Seas on the 3rd instant. She has lost six of her hands who broke out of gaol. — Ibid Yesterday the flags of the shipping in the harbor were hoisted half-mast high, in respect for the memory of Mr C. F.
