The Council of the British Empire Leaguo is assisting in the formation of the British Empire Club, under limited liability. The members are to bo privileged to introduce as honorary members friends temporarily visiting London from other parts of the Empire. Already the club has live hundred inlliiential supporters, including a hundred and iifty peers and members of the House of Commons, tho Archbishops of Canterbury and York, the Duko of Devonshire, Lord Rosebory, Lord Linlithgow, Mr Bnlfour, Sir Edward Grey and Mr Lyttelton. The committee of management includes the Earl of Derby (chairman), Lord Ampthill, Lord Brassey, Mr F. T. G. Walton, Lord Rothschild, Sir John Cockburn and Sir Felix Schuster.

The club, which will bo situated among the leading Wost End clubs, is being established iv memory of its projector, Sir Robert Herbert (who was Colonial Secretary in Queensland in 1859, Premier of that colony from 1860 to ISGS, for many years Undersecretary for the Colonies in the Home Government, and Agent-General for Tasmania for three years).
