THE LAND CONFERENCE.

At the Land Conference, Lord Outh■waite claimed that Mr. Asquith had limited tho political power of the aristocracy, and was going to limit economic power. Tho speech had a mixed reception.
Mr. Arnold Lupton appealed to tho conference not to commit themselves to ■a policy which would wreck the Liberals. <Ories of, "^Ve will risk it.") Mr. Lloyd George will speak at Swindon on the 26th inst. in response to a memorial of 10,000 aprieultural labourers.
■Mr. LambefF, speaking at Chawloigh, in Devon, ridiculed single-tax. He stat--ed that Mr. Lloyd George had authorised him to say there was not the remotest possibility of him becoming a single-taxer. Moreover, he did not believe he could regenerate agriculture oy taking the iland. He entered the land enquiry with a view to lessening the Tiufdens upon progressive cultivators.
