LITTLE SOLOMON'S RECITAL AT

BUCKINGHAM PALACE

LONDON, March 20

Little Solomon — the eigbt-year-old prodigy pianist who astonished musical London last June by hi.s playing at the Queen's Hall —displayed his astonishing precocity before the King and Queen at Buckingham Palace yesterday. Queen Alexandra, Princess Victoria, and Princess Mary were also present. '• He is a very wonderful boy/ was the royal verdict when the young pianist finished his programme, which lasted half an hour* Their Majesties were greatly delighted with his performance, the King being especially interested. Solomon's programme was as follows:— French suite Bach. Impromptu Schubert. Lied ohne Worte ... Mendelssohn. Polacca Alice Verne Bredt. In the last item he played with his teacher, Miss Matilde Verne. He was then asked to play a. march for the royal children, whe were highly amused by his performance of theromping " Teddy Bear's Frolic." The talent of the little wonder-child

—who is the son of a Whitechapel taiJor—first became known when he played at his school for a children's display. Souio musical enthusiasts were so impressed that they brought him to the notice of Miss Matilde Verne, who undertook not only his musical training at her pianoforte school, but his education.

Solomon thinks and talks of nothing but music, and aspires to write an opera.
