Some queer expressions now and again come to light from the thousand and one debating societies that have sprung into existence. During » debate in one ol these local Houses of Commons in the Midlands on a Bill for increasing hoipifcals one of the members rose from his seat and gravely observed, " Mr. Speaker, my opinion is that the ginerality of mankind in mineral are disposed to take the disadvan-; tage of the generality of mankind in' gineral." Having gob ao far, he wag, rudely interrupted by a member of the " Opposition " exclaiming, " Sit down ; you're coming out of tho same hole as you went in at."
One day a Texas gentleman saw a little boy without shoes or stockings. "It ia risky for you to be going barefooted ao early. You will catch cold and die." " I guess not," said the boy, " I went barefooted earlier than this once and I didn't die." " When was that ?" " When 1 was born. I was born barefooted." • *
The children were playing up in the attic when suddenly Whitty gave a fearful yell. "What is the matter?" said the nuite, from below. " Nothm 1 ," replied Whitty.
