WARRNAMBOOL ROAD RACE.

Particulars are to- hand of the Dunlop Rubber Tyre Company's road race from Warrnambool to Melbourne, 165 miles, which took place on October 2. Three hundred and twelve cyclists started, constituting a world's record for a road race. W- E. Knaggs, of Brighton, 41min, won in the fast time of 7hr 32mm 19sec after a sharp tussle with L. Day, of Kyff.bram, 35min, who finished a good second in 7hr 26min 20seo. A. G. Lloyd, of Elsternwick, 33min, was' third, a minute behind: Day. Ivor R. Munro, of Coburg, rode the distance in the fastest timo and beat the world's record. His riding time was 7hr 12min 51sec. Knaggs, the winner, is a man of thirty-three years of age and an, old cyclist. He is a native of Yorkshire and went to Australia from Cape Colony in 1904. He was, in fact, one of Cape Colony's champions and has two big scratch ©vents there to his credit. He is an employee of the Dunlop Rubber Company. Ivor Munro, the rider who made the fastest time and broke the world's record, is quite a youth, nineteen years of age, but has nevertheless twice 1 before ridden in this race. . v The following are the first ten placed men with their handicaps and time: —

course. Gascoyne, who made his first appearance in a long-distance race since landing in Australia, covered the course in the third fastest time, 7hr 23min 45sec. Gascoyne also covered the first 119 miles in the remarkable time of 4hr 53niin, equal to over 24£ miles an hour. Nine men out of the first ten to finish rode Dunlop tyres.
