The following is the division list on Mr Thomas Mackenzie's amendment to omit the duty on Australian fruit— apples, poara, &c. .-— For the amendment (26)— Messrs Allen, Bell, Buchfinan, Buddo, Buick,, Button, Carnoll, Duthie, Earnshaw, Flatman, Green, Hall-Jones, Hogg, W. Hutchison-, T. Mackenzie, Maslin, B. M'Kenzie, M'Lachlan, Meredith, O'Began, Pinkerton, Pirani, W. B. Bassall, Tanner, Willis and Wilson. Ao-ainßt the amendment (30) — Messrs Cadman, Carroll, Collins, Crowther, Duncan, Graham, Hall, Harris, J. W. Kelly, W. Kelly, Lang, Lawry, M'Gowan, J. M'Kenzie, M'Nab, Mills, Mitchelson, Montgomery, Morrison, Newman, Parata, Reeves, G. W. Bussell, Seddon, G. J. Smith, Stevens, Steward, B. Thompson, T. Thompson and Ward. Mr Montgomery moved to report pro-. gr.ss. The motion was negatived on the voices.

On the item — " Currants, raspberries, gooseberries, blackberries and strawberries, a halfpenny per lb," Mr Allen moved to strike out "currants."

Negatived by 36 to 19. Mr Thohas Mackenzie moved to strike out "raspberries." The jam makers, he said, could not get a sufficient quantity of this fruit in the colony.

Captain Bussell said there was no necessity to protect this fruit, as it would grow all over the colony. Messrs W. Hutchison and Earnshaw spoke in support of the amendment. On a division, the amendment was negatived by 29 to 25.

The item was agreed to, and progress was reported. ,
